I just had to read how everything was going to progress!!! I'm one of those readers that will read the entire series and then seek out anything the Author has also written. West smoothly transitions in to the next faze of her Watcher Series. With ease she effortlessly delves into the the lives of new characters, while continuing to develop further the characters from her first Trilogy to also continuing the characters I came to love and also the ones I loved to hate. She is truly a master storyteller!!! I crave each page like a part of me that I've misplaced and won't be the same until I've recovered it. Her series has touched my soul like my mentor and Author "Ms. Banks" who's no longer with us, but I still own and reread her "Vampire Huntress Legend Series" every so often. I used to wait one baited breath every six months just to buy my copy of her next installment. I can truly say without a doubt, that Author S. I Definitely recommend this series and give this book a 5 Star rating!!! West has an absolute Forever Fan!!! I've already downloaded books 2 and 3 of this continuing saga. Ok, I read the blurb and was a little unsure - the 'tear' - sounded to me like Aliens and I'm not really a fan of alien stories but hey - I thought i'd give it a try. Instead of Aliens I was pulled into a world of Watchers, with Jess who has lost and gone through so much, yet strives to reach her goal of discovering what happened to her parents. So I went along with her on the ride, and what a ride it was. I felt so involved, with Jess, with Mason, with Faison and all the inbetweens. I loved the way the story develops between Jess and Mason, I found myself cheering them along the way. I love the different twists that the story takes, I downloaded every book in the Chronicle and read and read and read. Broken by past events in their lives, they each struggle to overcome their fears and find the strength to take a chance on one another.I found myself oddly bereft once I had finished, - its just 'that' sort of story, where the world of the book is woven around you leaving you wanting more and more. On the night the Tear first appeared, the Watchers, a mysterious group of men possessing supernatural powers, made their presence known to the leaders of the world, earning their complete trust to deal with the turmoil the Tear caused. At the tender age of seven, Jess Riley's parents were ripped out of her life by the Tear, a ripple of white light in the sky which randomly transports people from Earth to alternate realities and distant planets once a year.
